Tombe dei Giganti di Tamuli

Description

The archaeological area of Tamuli, located in central northern Sardinia, in the territory of Macomer, is an important and suggestive site dating back to the Middle Bronze Age (XVI-XIII century BC). This nuragic complex includes three tombs of the giants, a nuraghe and a village. The Tombs are about one hundred and fifty meters from the village and two of them are still in good condition, they have an exedra in the center of which is the entrance to the burial chamber formed by a perforated trapezoidal slab. Along the semicircle of the exedra there is a seat made up of twenty-seven blocks and in this area you can see the manhole and numerous stone blocks of various shapes, finely worked. What makes this place even more interesting is the presence of six conical-shaped betyls, placed to protect the funerary area that they delimit, of which three smooth probably representing the male element and the other three the female one as they bear in the upper part two conical mammillary drafts.
